Key Development Research Involvement
Over the last five years, we have been part of a team that have so far conducted 2 national sample surveys, worked with a multiplicity of in-country partners, and provided survey technical assistance in Gabon.
Worked collaboratively with Afrobarometer national partners at la Direction Générale de la Statistique et des Etudes Economiques (DGSEE), and le Centre d’Etudes et de Recherche en Geoscience Politiques et Prospective (CERGEP), to complete the surveys.
Since Round 6 (2014/2015) we have worked closely with CERGEP and GDSEE to design and draw nationally representative survey sites in Gabon. The samples are random, nationally representative, stratified, area-cluster probability sample of the adult (18 years and over) population across Region, Urban and Rural strata, with +/- 3% margin of error. The surveys were conducted in language of respondent’s choice, French across the regions of Estuaire, Haut-Ogooué, Moyen-Ogooué, Ngounié, Nyanga, Ogooué-Ivindo, Ogooué-Lolo, Ogooué-Maritime and Woleu-Ntem. We worked with GDSEE to identify the most up-to-date census data by region, urban and rural, to appropriately allocate the sample.
With input into quality assurance, we are honored to have directly contributed to the successful completion of over 2 national sample surveys in Gabon, including surveys in 2015 and 2018.
