Every mutooro has empaako (Petty name) and it’s used as a sign of respect, love and also used to address an elder, instead of addressing them by their names. They are 12 petty names It’s noted that every petty name has a meaning and these names include:- Abooki, Abwooli, Adyeeri, Amooti, Ateenyi, Araali, Acaali, Apuuli, ocaali, Atwooki, Abaala and “Okali” which is strictly reserved for the king.
Empaako naming ceremony is only performed by the Tooro kingdom minister authorized by the King to give empaako. If you ever enter tooro kingdom, don’t ever leave without an additional name that will give you a sense of identity and belonging.
